Robert Whitley

About the Artist

Robert Whitley has been a celebrated Bucks County Artist, and leading figure in studio furniture for many years. He first gained recognition in 1966 winning the National Merit Award from the Museum of Contemporary Crafts for his “Starfish Desk”. Since then Robert Whitley has had two Presidential Commissions, has had numerous museum exhibitions including the Smithsonian Institution, and the American Craft Museum.  His work embodies much of beauty, function and grace of early American furniture, while emphasizing the natural strength and character of the woods he uses.

“A truly excellent design– one that is pleasing to the eye, graceful in line, and serves a practical function– will survive the trends and fads of the times and will retain its classic beauty forever.
